The Department of Medical Oncology & Haematology at AIIMS Kalyani started functioning from the year2023. The objective of the department is to develop as a regional referral centre for oncology and haematology services in eastern India.
The department provides comprehensive, evidence-based care for all patients with solid malignancies and haematological cancers, along with care of other haematological disorders.
The department functions from 5th Floor in OPD Block of the AIIMS Kalyani. It provides OPD services, Daycare and Inpatient services. Besides routine chemotherapy services, targeted therapies, immunotherapy are being offered to all patients as required. The department is also engaged in multi-disciplinary decision making through weekly tumor board discussions with other departments like Radiation Oncology, Surgery, Gynaecology, ENT, Radio-diagnosis, Nuclear Medicine, Pathology etc for comprehensive management of cancer patients.
The department is currently running 3-year DM Medical Oncology Academic Program since January 2025 with yearly intake of 1 candidate through all-India INI-SS examination. Additionally, it is also actively engaged in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching along with department of Medicine, Transfusion Medicine etc. The faculties of the department are also involved in multiple collaborative research projects with institutes like IIIT with extramural funding.
Monitoring of patients on chemotherapy and targeted therapy or immunotherapies
Emergency consultations for all patients are carried out every day morning 11AM-1PM

Chemotherapy administration (3741 chemotherapy cycles administered in last 1 year)
Immunotherapy and targeted therapy
Administration of blood products, growth factors, and IV antibiotics
Monitoring of sick patients presenting to OPD
Inpatient Services (IPD)
The Inpatient services of the department is currently running with 6 Inpatient beds + 1 Isolation bed for Male patients in 4th Floor IPD -9 ward and 6 Inpatient beds + 1 isolation bed for female patients in 4th Floor IPD-10 ward.
Critical Care services and Emergency support are provided with support from Department of Anaesthesiology and Emergency Medicine
