Department of Transfusion Medicine & Blood Centre is functional since Dec 2023. Since its inception, the Department provides state-of-the-art transfusion services. The salient features of the Department are:
Complete automation: Various procedures like blood component separation, testing of infectious markers, blood grouping, antibody screening and various other pre-transfusion tests are performed on complete automated platforms which will ensure high quality blood components leaving very little scope for manual errors.
Software Integration: The entire chain of events from donor registration, blood donation, apheresis donation, component separation, pre-transfusion testing, receiving blood requisitions and issuing blood components are based on barcode enabled LIS (Laboratory integrated system) software.
Transfusion Safety: Blood Centre at AIIMS Kalyani is among the few Blood Centres in India to provide NAT tested blood in addition to the routine screening tests.
Blood Components: All type of blood components (Packed red blood cells, Fresh frozen plasma, platelet concentrate, etc.) are available at Blood Centre AIIMS Kalyani round the clock.
Apheresis services: Various donor and therapeutic apheresis procedures can be performed.
