All India Institute of Medical Sciences was established by an Act of Parliament as an autonomous institution of national importance Under the Pradhan Mantri Swasthya Suraksha Yojana [PMSSY] similar to AIIMS New Delhi and its objectives and functions were defined. By virtue of this Act, the Institute awards its own medical degrees, diplomas and other academic distinctions. The degrees awarded by the Institute under the All India Institute of Medical Sciences Act are recognized Nursing qualifications by the Indian Nursing Council are deemed to be included in the first schedule of that Act, entitling the holders to the same privileges as those attached to the equivalent awards from other universities of India. The nursing college started its first academic session on 1st March 2022 with its first batch of nursing students with an uptake of 60 students. The admission process is being conducted through the common National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (Undergraduate) For NURSING by the National Testing Agency (NTA). The Institute (AIIMS, Kalyani) is a residential University in which the faculty members, staff and the students live on campus. There are hostels for undergraduate and nursing students inside the campus.
Main mission is to establish a centre of excellence in nursing education, training, health care and research imbued with scientific culture, compassion for the sick and commitment to serve the underserved.
AIMS
Correcting regional imbalances in the availability of affordable and reliable tertiary healthcare services and also to augment facilities for quality nursing education creating a critical mass of nurses and conduct research in the country relevant to the area.
OBJECTIVES
a. To develop a pattern of teaching in undergraduate and postgraduate nursing education in all its branches so as to demonstrate a high standard of nursing education to all nursing colleges and other allied institutions in India.
b. To bring together in one place educational facilities of the highest order for the training of the personnel in all important branch of the health activity.
c. To attain self – sufficiency in post graduate nursing education
