Research:

Many well-designed research projects are continuing in the department involving all the core areas like general surgery, breast cancer, Pancreas, head neck cancer etc. We have collaborated with many reputed research institution namely NIBMG, IISER, Bose Institute and Kalyani University.  The outcomes of many of the research programs would be presented in leading national and international conferences and would be published in leading medical journals.

Project:

  • Role of ETS1 transcription factor in metastatic triple negative breast cancer; in collaboration with Dr Nirmalya Sen, SN Bose Innovation centre, Kalyani University & Bose Institute, Kolkata
  • ‘Discovery of potential molecular targets against NOTCH- active and inactive states of stemness in gingivobuccal oral cancer’, in collaboration with Dr Sandeep Singh, NIBMG, Kalyani
  • Circulating cell free DNA as a blood-based biomarker for breast cancer diagnosis: A pilot study; in collaboration with Dr Kartiki V. Desai, NIBMG, Kalyani
  • Investigation and comparison of the gut microbiome between patients suffering from acute pancreatitis, chronic pancreatitis and pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma; in collaboration with Dr Srikanta Goswami, NIBMG, Kalyani
  • Prevalence and pattern of genitourinary diseases and associated risk factors: the dilemma of surgical health in a tribal community of Kalyani, East lndia; Intramural Project at AIIMS Kalyani.
  • Understanding the molecular pathogenesis of Benign breast Disease (Fibrocystic Mastopathy); Intramural project at AIIMS Kalyani.
  • ICMR STS Project: Prevalence and coexistence of chronic anal fissure and haemorrhoids in patients visiting surgical OPD of AIIMS Kalyani. (Completed)
