The process of teaching has changed a lot in recent times. It has advanced at a tremendous pace, especially in medical education. Advances in digital technology have transformed the way medical students are taught now. Earlier the good old didactic lectures were the norm. Nowadays, the medical teacher has lots of options to choose from for imparting knowledge to his students; many of these teaching techniques aided by computer technology. Medical educationists are devising ways to make the process of learning more enjoyable and learner-friendly. Similarly, the process of assessment has seen a sea of changes recently. More and more researches are being done in the field of medical education to find innovative teaching and learning techniques.
Vision
The vision of the Medical Education Unit of the AIIMS Kalyani is to be recognized as the centre of excellence for imparting training to medical educators in latest educational science technology.
Objectives
Sharpening the skills of medical education in medical educators by conducting various workshops and faculty development programs
Training faculty in preparing curriculum for various courses related to medical education
Proper usage of educational technology for effective teaching
Facilitate good quality research in medical education
Producing learning resource materials for the training of medical and other health care personnel

Activities
The first workshop on “Research Grant Writing” organized by the Medical Education Unit (MEU) was held on 16.11.19 at the AIIMS Kalyani interim campus in the College of Medicine and JNM Hospital, Kalyani premises. Professor Avijit Hazra from the Institute of Post Graduate Medical Education and Research, Kolkata was the resource person for the workshop. Nine faculty members from the College of Medicine and JNM Hospital also participated in the workshop along with all the faculty members of AIIMS Kalyani.
The MEU also conducted an online session on “Blueprinting in Educational Assessment” on 18.06.2020. Dr. Sitanshu Sekhar Kar Additional Professor, Dept. of Community Medicine, JIPMER, Puducherry was the resource person for this training session.
